FemTech DIKU workshop for high school students: Microcontrollers and Social Media

What does it mean to develop interactive technologies? What skills are needed to develop them? What practices can bring digital technology innovation forward?

Designing and developing interactive technologies benefit from bringing together different experiences, skills, and perspectives. However, the predominant trends in computer science do not always embrace this diversity. At DIKU, we are addressing this issue by creating opportunities for people to learn about interactive technologies. We want to create new ways of engaging people from different backgrounds into digital technology development. We believe that initiatives such as workshops and events are able to counterbalance predominant trends, and thus contribute to broadening perspectives in computer science in the long term.

Create an interactive product

As part of this mission, we are organising the third edition of FemTech.dk high school workshop in February 2019. This year we will create an interactive product combining microcontrollers and social media. In the workshop, you will learn how to connect your microcontroller to a social platform, gather data and visualise it using physical computing.

Does it sound exciting?

Contact us! We have 24 spots for high school students with no/little experience in coding and programming and who are looking forward to learning more about it.
