All over the world the achievements of woman in STEM educations are celebrated on the second Tuesday of October personified in Ada Lovelace, an English mathematician also known as the first to recognize the full potential of a "computing machine" and the first computer programmer. She was the first to discover that the machine had applications beyond pure calculation and published the first algorithm intended to be carried out by such a machine.

Ada Lovelace Day marks an international celebration of the achievements of women in STEM. It was started in 2009 by Suw Charman-Anderson as a day of blogging about women in tech and rapidly developed into a broader celebration of women in STEM, the definition of which people interpret in their own way.

This year, 3Shape and DIKU join the community of countries hosting local ALD events.
