Title

How do you Control a Quantum Computer?

Abstract

Quantum computers have the potential to revolutionize several areas of science. But building and controlling one is challenging: At NBI, quantum-dot spin-qubit arrays are used, which require precise manipulation of single electrons. I will present some of the problems and how we overcome them with machine-learning and clever-heuristics. Finally, this talk aims to answer the question: How do you solve a problem in an area you don't understand?

Bio

Which courses do you teach?

Probabilistic Machine Learning (MSc)

Numerical Optimization (MSc)

Which technology/research/projects/startup are you excited to see the evolution of?

A small startup in Copenhagen,  VEO: automatic broadcasting of football matches with a cheap setup. It is a great application of Machine-Learning as it helps kids to show their successes to their parents and grandparents. You expected Quantum Computers here? That is what the talk is for!

What is your favourite sketch from the DIKUrevy?

"Et helt nyt sprog" is fantastic!
