Symposium: Food waste at the University of Copenhagen

Food waste and visibility - let's have a look at it!
Visibility is a powerful tool in the fight against food waste — but are we using it to its full potential?
This one-day symposium brings together researchers, policymakers and representatives from retail and consumer organizations to explore how visibility of food waste can contribute to the fight against food waste. Based on examples from Danish and international research, we look at visibility and food waste in different contexts and from different angles. How does (in)visibility interact with social norms? How can we work to make food waste visible through education and policy initiatives? Through a combination of research-based presentations and panel discussions, we try to clarify how visibility can be used in the fight against food waste, for example through awareness raising amongst consumers and other stakeholders, new forms of regulation or economic incentives.
The symposium is organized in collaboration between Green Solutions Centre and the research project Fighting food waste: Exploring the interplay between values, choices and habits, hosted at the Centre for Internationalisation and Parallel Language Use (CIP) and funded by VELUX FONDEN.
