The Nordic AI Meet is an annual conference where researchers in early careers can meet and learn about new ideas, methods, and theories within AI and build a professional network that will be useful in developing knowledge-based applications of AI. Next year, the conference will take place on 2-3 October, and the Pioneer Centre for Artificial Intelligence will host and co-organize the event with the Norwegian Artificial Research Consortium (NORA) – something director of the Pioneer Centre for AI Serge Belongie is looking forward to.

– This event is noteworthy both for bringing together the AI community from across the Nordics and for its focus on career success for young researchers. We are delighted that the Nordic AI Meet is coming to Copenhagen in 2023, and the Pioneer Centre for AI looks forward to co-organizing the event with our brilliant colleagues from NORA, he says.

An important step forward

The conference is seen as an interface between interdisciplinary scientific research in areas of computer science and statistics with application in fields of natural science, technology, life science, medicine, humanities, and social sciences. It represents an important step forward in helping and providing necessary knowledge exchange about AI and its applications in the Nordics and gives young AI researchers the opportunity to exchange ideas, build collaborations and form a Nordic approach to building AI solutions for the societal good. This is particularly important and useful for meeting important challenges in the public sector, industry, or civil society regarding the use of AI.

The second edition of the conference just took place in Oslo on 14-15 November 2022 and collaboratory co-leads at the Pioneer Centre for AI Professor Lars Kai Hansen and Professor Christian Igel served respectively on this year’s program committee and the organizing committee.

– The Nordic AI Meet in Oslo was great, with inspiring presentations and nice social events. Let’s continue in Copenhagen next year, says Professor Christian Igel.

The Nordic AI Meet provides an arena where the topics about the consequences of AI application can be discussed and presented, and the topics that will be included in the conference are not only related to basic AI research but also to applied AI research in natural sciences, medicine, and social sciences.
