Title

Movement as an interface: Lessons for designing cars and robots

Abstract

Every 20 or so years a new interface paradigm emerges, with interfaces having developed from the command line, to graphical user interfaces, and then touch interfaces. In this talk I will explore how our own movements could be the next interface paradigm. To understand how we communicate with movement we’ll will look at videos of the Waymo self driving car, and then some of the problems that Copenhagen Airport’s cleaning robots can cause. Building on this work I’ll discuss how to design and test a moving trash-can robot.
