50th anniversary

In 2021, the Department of Computer Science celebrated its 50th anniversary as Denmark's first computer science department (with a one-year delay due to the Corona pandemic). With the founding of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Copenhagen in 1970, computer science really took shape in Denmark, and computer science researchers and students have since formed the basis for the Danish society's accelerating technological transformation.

Through a number of activities in 2021, we looked back, but most of all forward and focused on the future of computer science. The crowning achievement was our grand anniversary event, "50 years of computer science", which was held on 10 November 2021 in collaboration with the Confederation of Danish Industry.

Politicians, decision-makers, business leaders, journalists, international experts, and other professionals connected to the world of computer science were invited to a festive day with workshops, exhibitions and thought-provoking talks from speakers such as Margrethe Vestager, Serge Belongie, and Anne Marie Engtoft Larsen.
