Natural Language Processing (NLP)
Welcome to the NLP section. We research methods to automatically process, understand as well as generate text, typically using statistical models and machine learning. Applications of such methods include automatic fact checking, machine translation and question answering. We are part of the SCIENCE AI center at the University of Copenhagen.
Our research is on natural language processing, spanning core as well as emerging topics in natural language processing, natural language understanding, computational linguistics and multi-modal language processing.
Core Natural Language ProcessingWe research core tasks in natural language understanding, including meaning representations for linguistically general and cross-lingual natural language processing, parsing and transfer learning.
Natural Language UnderstandingWe research natural language understanding and learning with limited labelled data, including misinformation detection and explainable AI.
We offer courses for the bachelor's programmes in Computer Science, Machine Learning and Data Science and Communication & IT as well as the master's programme in Computer Science. For the MSc programme, we suggest the study track in Data Science.
The following courses are offered/planned in the academic year 2020/2021:
- Introduction to Machine Learning / Introduktion til Machine Learning (IntroML)
- Introduction to Computer Science / Grundlæggende datalogi
- Advanced Topics in Natural Language Processing (ATNLP) *
- Natural Language Processing (NLP) *
- Neural Information Retrieval (NIR)
- Web Science (WS)
* The NLP section is course responsible
