N2 - This article presents some of the results from a project about trade unions and technological change and the research method used. Chapter 2 describes some problems of the application of edp-technology until now. Chapter 3 deals with the research method used, and the main activities of the project are described. Chapter 4 presents proposals for control mechanisms for the unions against the employers' use of technology. The DDE (Development, Democracy and Edp) project was a research project carried out in co-operation with the Danish trade unions. The main purpose was to increase the possibilities of the trade unions for influencing the application of edp. Another purpose was to develop research and education in the field of system work.
