Research Groups

Our activities range from research into the theoretical foundations of machine learning to applications within a broad set of domains, including natural language processing, information retrieval, medical image analysis and modelling of biological data. We are part of the recently launched SCIENCE AI center at the University of Copenhagen.

Machine Learning Theory

We develop, analyse, and apply algorithms for machine learning. Our goal is to increase the autonomy and scalability of adaptive systems by using concepts from theoretical and applied computer science.

Medical Imaging

We perform analysis of images for medical purposes.Major applications include neurological, muskulo-skeletal and pulmonary diseases as well as oncology. We focus on the quantification of pathological changes through medical imaging biomarkers.

Information Retrieval

We conduct research in the areas of information retrieval (e.g. search engines) and information extraction. We study and develop tools that provide effective and efficient access to big, heterogeneous data.

Machine Learning in Biology

We develop machine learning methods to solve problems in Biology, with particular focus on sequence-structure relationships in biomolecules, using techniques ranging from deep learning to molecular simulations.
