We develop, analyse, and apply algorithms for machine learning and data mining. Our goal is to increase the autonomy and scalability of adaptive systems by using concepts from theoretical and applied computer science.
Our activities range from research into the theoretical foundations of machine learning to applications within a broad set of domains, including natural language processing, information retrieval, medical image analysis and modelling of biological data. We are part of the recently launched SCIENCE AI center at the University of Copenhagen.
We perform analysis of images for medical purposes.Major applications include neurological, muskulo-skeletal and pulmonary diseases as well as oncology. We focus on the quantification of pathological changes through medical imaging biomarkers.
We conduct research in the areas of information retrieval (e.g. search engines) and information extraction. We study and develop tools that provide effective and efficient access to big, heterogeneous data.
NLP is concerned with automatically processing as well as understanding text, typically using statistical models and machine learning. Prominent applications are machine translation, information extraction and question answering.
